Subject: BILL # C-428 THANKS TO RUBY DHALLA AND BOB RAE

URGENT ATTENTION About Our OAS pensions Bill C-428 An Act to Amend the Old Age Security Act (residency requirements)

And the insanity continues.................

Bill C-428 will allow recent immigrants to apply for OAS in 3 years instead of the existing 10.
This bill had first reading in the house on June 18, 2009.  It was seconded by Bob  Rae!!  MP Ms. Ruby Dhalla who introduced the bill represents the riding of Brampton  whose population is mainly East Indian.  Right now you have to have lived in Canada for 10 years in order to  qualify for Old Age Security.  She wants the time reduced to 3  years.  Thousands could come to Canada when they are 62 years old, never having worked or contributed to this county's tax system etc, and qualify for full Old Age Security benefits.  10 years minimum is reasonable. 3 is not!

Look this up,  Google C-428 and you will see this bill has only one purpose, to featherbed a select group of people for votes.

I certainly hope this bill does not get passed. It is about time we called our elected MP's to ask them to NOT support this bill.  Their response may be one factor in helping us determine who gets elected in the next election.

What  Can You Do?

1.  Spread the message to family, friends and email buds.

2. Write letters, send emails to all your list, and call Members of Parliament

It is time Canada looked after it's Vets and long-term citizens before tossing OUR hard-earned money around on people who have no right to this money, never having paid taxes or contributed to our economy.   If a family wishes to bring elderly relatives here and are willing to waive their own right to collect these funds in order that the elderly relatives can receive them...fine...otherwise, look after them yourself and do not expect the Canadian taxpayers to do it.

There are too many people abusing the generosity of the Canadian people. We need to stop the madness....NOW!
We, our children and our grandchildren currently owe the global investment community over $500 Billion Dollars, the sum of our accumulated National Debt that is never publicized.

There is no way that your are going to win this battle. If you don't provide recent Immigrants in need with some kind of reasonable pension support they will eventually be able to get some kind of supplementary benefits from the Federal Government.

Don't forget it is the Federal Government that is responsible for the kind of immigrants it allows to come and stay in Canada. In General, the Canadian policy is to bring to Canada highly skilled immigrants or those that can make a substantial investment in Canada's business environment. However, in the recent past different wars throughout the World have produced this underclass of individuals with a relatively low skill set and not having much money. Canada is still a compassionate Country that believes that if people were legally brought into the Country then they should be looked after until they can become more independent and be able to contribute to this Society.

" If you don't provide recent Immigrants in need with some kind of reasonable pension support they will eventually be able to get some kind of supplementary benefits from the Federal Government."
True enough, but the recipient of such support would be required to demonstrate a need for such support. The easier qualification for OAS will provide assistance regardless of need.

Your logic concludes ALL recent immigrants need assistance. If that is the case, we have a serious problem with our immigration qualification standards.

I think you have hit the proverbial nail on the head: People who bring relatives into Canada in the "reunite the family" context, people over fifty five, should not qualify in under ten years. I also agree that this smacks of a well thought out means of foisting off on us, the Canadian tax payer, the cost of supporting these individuals. This cost that was undertaken by the relatives over signatures, in order to get them into Canada in the first place.
Kill the bill!!!!!!
This is the most ridiculous thing.. Soon everyone living in Canada will be on welfare, disability, compassionate whatever?? There will not be anyone working.. Maybe the political parties will donate their massive salaries and pensions to support these freeloaders.. To get into Canada, you need a sponsor, a job, a place to stay AND NOT DEPEND on Canada to support you. If you dont like it.. GO HOME OR GET A JOB.. I've worked all my life to secure my old age pension, NOT TO support someone else. Let immigrants do the same.. Work and contribute to Canada first! Welfare breeds welfare is a well known fact!. We need PRIDE in Canada, not ridicule.
While Ms. Dhalla insists that this pension will only mean about $18. per month to each of these new immigrants (if that were true then why is it so important?), something that is not mentioned very often is that a person receiving this pension is entitled to an extra 'hardship' pension if they can show an income of less than $21000. This added hardship pension is somewhere in the neighborhood of $600. per month. Ruby thinks all of us Canadians are too stupid to find out about this. Once she gets her fellow countrymen approved for the $18. per month, there is no problem for them to get the additional $600. This will bankrupt this wonderful country & penalize legitimate Canadians
It is time to remind these people that it is a privilege not a right to move and live here in Canada, more over becoming a citizen of this country. As well, there should be a minimum of 10 years of contribution to the CPP and OAS funds before anyone is able to collect from the funds. Even EI should have a minimum 3 year start up and not just the few weeks as it is now. We should tell immingrants, yes, they are welcome, but here are our terms, NOT theirs. They, immigrants, come here because things are supposedly better in Canada than their land of birth, then accept what our country Canada has to offer, not adjust or change to suit their wants.
I disagree with this bill and it should be voted down. Myself, my parents and my grandparents have worked very hard in this country and it seems we're being taxed to death at every turn. Income tax right off the top, then it's property taxes from after income tax income! And on July 1st another 13% on every dollar we spend. Where will it stop? If we provide the ability for people to come to this county and they do not contribute, where will this money come from? Higher taxes, where else!!! Please stop the bleeding.... Or at least give us the option of not paying the taxes and not receiving the old age benefits....
I do love "my" country, BUT, we have made it so easy to immigrate that we have lowered our standards. Immigrants previously didn't ask nor demand things, they were just happy to be accepted and blended in with our society and CULTURE. Today, our standards are so low (because of our low birth rate it is told), that we now are accepting people from other countries who want their benefits increased without having to earn them. Other countries have realized the error is lowering their immigration standards and are making changes to raise them. I have always said, that if I were to emigrate to another country, I would accept their laws and culture, and respect them and try to blend in without complaint. It would be because I left my home country for a better place, not to make my new country like my "old country". I don't like what is happening to "my" country, and "my" politicians don't listen to me, perhaps I should leave and come back as an immigrant!
Better come back as a refuge, they are even more spoiled with our tax money. The social support structure is already too expensive and vote hungry politicians want to distribute more and more goodies to attract votes. Someone said some years ago that Democracy is a self destructing form of Government, in that it attracts more and more freeloaders from within and outside, until the state collapses. I believe we see some of these trends in many states, where people have worked hard for generations to build a better life for their children. Now some states already need support to survive. I think so far we have been lucky that Mr.Harper did not fall (too much) into that trap. I sure hope this and similar bills never see the light of day.

Why would Bob Rae support this? I can understand Dhalla wanting to invite her older compatriots to share our Canadian hospitality but has Rae become senile? I think the wait period should be extended to, say, 15 years rather than be shortened. Surely the government must realize it can't support this ridiculous idea either financially or morally.
I lived in Ontario, when Bob Rae was Premier of Ontario. He increased the debt of the Province by 40 Billion Dollars in his 4 years. Luckily Mike Harris followed him and undid a lot of the waste that Bob Rae's Government instigated. Their present Liberal Premier is in my opinion a very questionable leader.

This has been circulating in the internet. True? I assume someone checked this out....

Canada Pensions...

Only in Canada

* It is interesting to know that the federal Government of Canada allows :

* A monthly pension of : $1,890.00 to a simple refugee
* plus : 580.00 in social aid

==========

* A grand total of : $2,470.00 monthly

X 12 months

==========
$28,920.00 annual income

· By comparison, the Old Age Pension of a senior citizen who has contributed to the development of Our Beautiful Big Country during 40 or 50 years, CANNOT receive more than :

* Amount/month $1,012.00 in Old Age Pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement

X 12 months

============
$12,144.00 annual income

* A difference of : $16,776.00 per year

* Perhaps our senior citizens should ask for the Status of Refugees instead of applying for Old Age Pension.

* Let us send this message to as many Canadians as possible, and maybe the allowance of refugee could then be reduced to $1,012.00, and that of our Canadian pensioners raised to $2,470.00 per month. (who actually deserve it) the money that they have been paying in income taxes for 40 or 50 years,
AN INCREDIBLE NONSENSE !!!
OUR CANADIAN SENIORS CITIZENS, DESERVE BETTER

There is an other e-mail circulating recommending to put criminals into senior places and Seniors into jail for a much more comfortable old age......

Bob Rae is supporting it to get the ethnic vote, the Liberals have always done that.

I too would like to know more about the hardship pension, the only additional amount I am aware of is the GIS which is not very much at all.
