Today marks Berry Gordy's 82nd birthday. While the Motown founder is rightly recognized for revolutionizing American popular music with the "Motor City" sound, he did have... well, a few misses.

 

 

After all, how else to explain his initial decision to block the release of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" as a single because it reportedly had "no commercial potential"?

It’s been 42 years since the Rock & Roll Revival Concert took place in Toronto and our city hasn’t seen anything like it since.

 

Chuck Berry, Jerry-Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, The Doors and the Plastic Ono Band: without a doubt, rock n’ roll was revived on that Varsity Stadium stage.

You were just playing Guy Mitchell.  Sometimes, I think you are following my steps on YouTube....laugh...I am now listening to the same artist doing My Heart Cries for You....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKANNp57Ti8&feature=related....l... version, but one I love too...just a bit better....is Ray Charles' video.  I love AM 740, and feel disloyal if I forget to turn on the radio.  Currently cleaning up...as favorite nephew/wife are coming for a visit...from Alberta....great to be able to dance and mop....at the same time.
