Comment by Megan on May 25, 2013 at 7:53am Well, I'm still in a daze after my unexpected trip to Orlando, Florida in April!! One week I'm talking with my oldest daughter & we decide that we won't be going on a trip as we are saving money for our Europe one in 2014. Then I see a post from my youngest daughter. She was working for Disney Cruise Line. She wanted to know who would like to join her at Disney World. Jokingly I said "I do! I do!". That was on a Tuesday. Thursday when her ship was in port, she sent a message wanting to know if I really wanted to go. I told her I didn't have the money. She tells me to call her sister as they are chatting & working on figures. Saturday, when the ship is in port again, the youngest sends another message "I have to know by Tuesday so you can get your security check done" Oldest daughter and I have a marathon phone conversation to check prices & things to do. Sunday we decided I could use my Air Miles for my flight. Only need cash for the rest of the trip. Get word from the youngest, she has asked about accommodations & we (oldest & I) get a great discount. Sunday night we are booking our plane tickets!!! Ten days later we are off to Orlando! lol When the youngest joins us in Orlando, I ask what is my share of the accommodations & meal plan. She says nothing, it is for all the birthdays & Christmases she has missed over the last 4 years!!! The 5 day trip cost me $700!!!
The last time I spent more than a few hours with my youngest was October 2008! We had a blast!!!
I am so glad I went as last week my youngest took a Nanny position in Turkey. (Hmmm, wonder if I'll get a plane ticket for Christmas?! lol)
I haven't had any lobster yet. Must get some this week as the season is almost done!
I just bought a 2nd hand ride-on mower. (Thanks to my son.) I managed to spend an hour cutting grass last night. Hope it stops raining soon so I can get all the yard done (about 1/2 an acre).
Back to work in a couple of weeks. I am manager at the Women's Institute hall in Stanley Bridge. There are ceilidhs every night of the week this year! Now I have to decide which 2 groups do I want to miss so I can book my days off!!
Hey Zoomers, what interesting and/or exciting things have been happening in your part of the world. Any interesting travel destinations nearby?

Comment by Ron MacDonald on November 15, 2012 at 4:32pm Hey....really good news...just heard it on cbc............the ladies will be allowed back into Canada for a three year extension...excellent indeed....I bet the backlash was enormous~!................lates....
Comment by Megan on November 14, 2012 at 8:53pm Hi Ron, I missed the news. Haven't heard about the women being deported, what is the story?
Comment by Ron MacDonald on November 14, 2012 at 7:51pm Hey Maritimers.............what's the sense of the news story about the two women being deported....my goodness I can't believe that this would happen....I'm serious....what have we come to? what is to become of us if we can't make room for these people. Does anybody reallyl give a damn?.............I want to go and bring them back!...I think it's disgusting.....heard it on cbc this morning and this evening, the story that followed was how Toronto spend millions on some new players......for what?......winners?
sorry to be so vivid but I just don't see the justice.
Comment by Megan on November 13, 2012 at 7:48pm Hi Ron. I was watching the news about Hurricane Sandy. I have friends in New York City and Ontario. Thankfully they made it through without major damage to their homes.
I am so enjoying this warm Fall!! Today the temp was 19. I am not looking forward to the cold. We have been getting alot of wind over the last few weeks. Confederation Bridge has been closed to high sided vehicles, buses, & motorcycles at least a day each week. On the week-end it was so windy the ferry between here & Nova Scotia was cancelled.
In one way I really like this time of the year. The colours have been so vibrant this year. I love the sound of the geese and enjoy watching them fly over.
I live near a fishing community. The fishermen are busy getting the boats hauled up and winterized. I'm about 2 km from the centre of the village. I'm close enough to run to the store or restaurant & far enough away that everyone doesn't know my business. lol There is a great boardwalk along the waterfront & when it ends you can continue into the National Park or along the road & down to the Harbour.
I volunteer with the Military Family Services Centre. On the 24th I help with the gingerbread house build. Last year we had 12 children attend. It was so much fun!!!! lol December 8th we have Breakfast with Santa for the families.
I think this is enough for now. I hope you are enjoying nice weather too.
Comment by Ron MacDonald on November 13, 2012 at 5:04pm ..........that should read 2.5 storey...about 1300 sq ft...
