I started to think about this after going to a dollar store.
If you can buy a pair of gloves for a dollar or a scarf or a winter hat, it should be easy and affordable to keep kids in our communities warm in the cold temps.
A simple purchase of hats, scarves and gloves to be given to your local Church (The clergy people know who needs them) or to the office in your local public school because the Teachers know which kids need to stay warm and can't afford the items.
Instead of Christmas gifts, I would much rather spend money on this, and would love it if my friends did it instead of buying me gifts this year.

Please submit your own ideas on how people can make a difference in their own communities.

Hi Kat,
Here in Winnipeg Perth's Cleaners participates in United Ways Coats for Kids program. We can drop off the coats at Perth's and they will clean them and then they are distributed to whoever needs them.

Any project that helps another human
being stay warm has got to be a good idea.
Great effort on the part of the cleaners.
I have joined the knitters at Village Mosaic in Toronto who are knitting hats and scarves for the Out of the Cold program and also lap blankets and vests [sleeveless sweaters] for the CFFC charity who sends them to countries in South America and Africa. That way I can make use of my wool stash and help some deserving people at the same time.
