Alandra, right now gas is much cheaper than electricity, but these things seem to be subject to change as the people shift their energy sources.

Barbara, when I see the Taoists stretch so far out, I feel they have nothing left to give, should they need it, to fend off an attack. Also, I see so many of them lean their torso forward, so they cannot possibly be centered.  The crown should be suspended from a golden thread, and the spine drops down from that in such a way that if an iron rod were to be in place, it would act as a third leg and make you very stable and hard to knock over.  Strength within softness always.

Echoing the other comments, MarilynLou, about the sad news of your son's passing. Am so sorry. Have been out since this morning so am only now reading the posts here. Sending caring thoughts, Alandra

KAREN, THANKS FOR THAT.  I WONDERED IF IT WAS MORE THE MARTIAL STYLE. I THINK IF THE INSTRUCTOR OF THE TAOIST WAS NOT CENTERING THE MOVES,IT WAS PROBABLY HIS WAY.  WE KEEP VERY CENTERED, BUT THE EMPHASIS IS MORE ON STRETCHING. THE SLOWER WE DO THE MOVEMENTS, THE MORE SWEAT WE WORK UP.

I AM SORRY FOR THAT MARYLINLOU.  ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS TO HAPPEN IS TO LOSE A CHILD. YOU ALWAY EXPECT TO BE THE ONE TO GO FIRST.  MY HUSBAND AND I LOST HIS MIDDLE SON AT THE AGE OF 21. IT IS DEVASTATING. ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT KNOW THAT HE WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU AND WATCHING OVER YOU.  YOU HAVEN'T LOST HIM. FOR A WHILE HE'S JUST IN ANOTHER ROOM.

Barb, I've really only done Classical Yang style Tai Chi, which is, I suppose, a fighting style as the movements are very similar to what I see at the Karate club every week.  From what I could see of the Taoist's around here, they tend to lean into the movements more, instead of keeping well centred.  Of course, that could just be their instructor doesn't know any better. The form they do seems to be the same one, but there are some differences as to how they do certain moves....like brush knees, for instance.  I never would have recognized that.
