Stan with the puggles.   THe stores carry a wax that is used on the feet of sled dogs to protect them.  It is better than the spray on stuff and lasts.  Not harmful to the dog either.  I think I've seen it as "musher's wax" but I'm sure if you check at a pet supply house, they will know what you mean.  Good luck and I hope it works this winter.  I'm lucky as the cold and salt dont seem to both my Sam much.  I always wash his paws off with a damp wash cloth when we get in after a snowy walk.  So far, so good. : )

Do you find that your dog or dogs treat you better than most humans?   I find that my dogs all through my life have never disappointed me.   Can't say the same for the people I was closest to.   Dogs love you with all their heart.  They are not deceitful.  Just seems like it would be a better world if people were more like dogs. My currect dog is a Chinook.  Very rare breed.   He looks like a cross between a  yellow lab, Husky and Germ Shep.   He's not the smartest dog in the world but he is one of the friendliest.  Just about everyone who meets him, loves him.  He is a gentle giant.  I am thankful to have Sam in my life,   He is a great companion and makes me laugh all the time.  Hope all of you have a great dog who loves you.

Just joined up with you dog people.   My motto for many years has been DOGS ARE THE BEST PEOPLE!   My current dog person is a Chinook.   I thought he was just a mutt until a neighbor of mine found his breed online.   He's a sled dog that looks very much like a cross between yellow lab, husky and German Shep.   He's beautiful but not the brightest.   Just about everyone who meets "Sam" loves him.   He has a beautiful smile and just a sweet disposition.   He will be 5 on June 8.  I can't believe he's been with me that long.   Seems like yesterday he was a hyper furry nonstop puppy of 4 months.  Thankfully, he's calmed down a lot now.  So happy to have a place to talk about my favorite creatures.

I have a miniature American Eskimo.  He is 3 years old and seems to be scared of everything, though not as much as when I first got him.  Anyone out there have this type of dog or a dog which is the same way?

Hi Carol !

This isn't a very busy group, all of the action is in the Kitties Group, where we talk about dogs and cats.  Why don't you have a look?

I think you should see it in red at the right hand side of this page.

Are there any Puggle owners out there? We have a 17 mo Puggle who just loves the snow but the cold and salt really bother him...had to carry him in a couple of times. We have tried booties...he will have no part of that. We have tried the spray and the cream...only works for a few minutes. Any other suggestions????

Ron, I've given mine cooked eggs, but not raw.  Interesting...thanks!

ah Linda.....I forgot to mention one item that I think is important, again I'm no expert....a raw egg in the kibble is supposed to be good for a dogs coat......I've held this notion for years.....that doesn't mean it's true, but the dogs I have had love egg........!

Bixby's Canine Capers

Available from Amazon as either a book or as Kindle, Bixby's Canine Capers is a must-read for all ages, from nine to ninety.  You'll have a hard time putting this book down until you finish it.  The plot twists, the clever play on words (especially in the first chapter), and the great writing which is so readable for any age make this book a must-have for anyone's personal library.  I eagerly look forward to the next installment from this awesome author, Chris Hammer, as I'm sure many of you are, too.  You can't go wrong by buying this book.  I especially like the fact that all proceeds go to support Irving House, an animal sanctuary where older and special-needs animals are cared for by special people.

Here's the link to the Amazon listing:
