"Finished Maugham's short stories and I've started Zelda, the memoir by Zelda Fitzgerald's Scott's wife. Not a great read. She seems to like a string of $64 words to start with, leaving one a bit confused before she begins talking…"

"As girls, why did we always have to play "boy" games? Just kidding - I grew up with 2 older brothers and I had to play cowboys and Indians or I had to play by myself. Good memories ... I enjoy reading about others.

Just to let all my friends on Zoomer know, one of my sons, James, passed away on Wednesday morning at a nursing home in Scarborough, ON. Funeral service to be held on Monday afternoon at Ogden Funeral Home.
I have exchanged comments with you before but am not a member of the coffee shop so cannot reply to your "more tech frustrations". I assume that you are using a Windows OS and Firefox. Did you check whether the link was to download Flash for FF or the IE version? To see if Flash is installed you could look at programs in the Control Panel, but easier is to go to the Tools tab in FF, select Add-ons, and then Plugins. See if Shockwave Flash is listed. You might also check to see if the plugins are up to date (there's a link). Flash has been causing a great deal of trouble in FF recently and every time FF and/or Flash updates (very frequently!) there are problems. You should also see if you can access that PBS site/file with Internet Explorer - it uses a different flash program; and if you have other Flash files on your computer see if they'll still play in FF - if not then there is a compatibility issue with the new version.
Rarely check zoomers these days - when did the personalised pages in zoomers disappear?
hope you are feeling better soon. I am quite familiar with the General, as my mother has spent several visits there over the past 3 years. You are quite interesting. I lead a quiet life, care for mother and recently lost my brother-in-law so will spending more time with my sister. She also belongs to Zoomers.ca(Janet Lovsin) So many interesting people, I enjoy following the comments and occasionally participate.
Thanks for your comments Marilyn. Wow, you really started taking pictures young. I was in my mid teens when I started and could afford to buy a cheap camera and pay for the developing. Up till then, my dad took all of the family photos... which he developed in his home darkroom. Those were great days, but I truly love the digital photography of today. ;-)
Hi Marilyn. I am going to be away on the ninth so am wishing you a very happy birthday. My son will be 38 on September 9th so I have no trouble remembering the date. May you have many more happy birthdays.
Thanks Marilyn, I am just fine. Stopped posting on Coffee Shop. Didn't like the way Gary handled that situation with regard to the criticism of a post by reporting a man who was absolutely right, in my opinion. Several of us have stopped posting, as you have probably noticed. I see you on the Cat House, and still read Coffee Shop. We had a really good group going there until somebody crawled out of the woodwork and spoiled it all.
We are trying to get Alex Mollison to set up his own Cat House, seeing as Zoomers won't answer his and my requests for him to take over the one that is already there, looked after by a ficticious person.
I hope you notice that I always read and enjoy your Writer's Group contributions and comment at the bottom. Thanks for posting. You have a loyal fan!
"Linda Parr Well said. Kids need a loving, caring, dependable home. Today's kids are spoiled so badly that Reily sounds like and up and coming SUPERSTAR ! Thanks, my bagel breakie will be great as usual ! …"
