Hi Sheila,

Found your comment. Sorry you're in Mexico and not here in Ontario s you can attend a Drive Wise presentation. But thanks for the kind words about the program.

Hi Sheila,

Sorry for not responding earlier. I can't seem to find your comment at the Drive Wise page from August 23. Would you like to re-send?

I have heard this from other friends but others send glowing reports. Do you think it is the area in which people work?Robert Longpre on Zoomers also worked in China and his story is so different, but he taught at a Uni, that too can make a difference.
I have been teaching in various countries for some time now. My school in Costa Rica was wonderful but living in the real CR and not being a tourist was far from pleasant and I dont want to repeat that experience.
At present I am teaching in Mexico and I will tell you this country is very stressful, I have lived here for 4 years and inyend to leave this December , hence my research.
Yesterday I sent an email to a school in Dubai and I await a reply. A one year contract there is worth 2 years work in other countries which would mean I could travel without working for a year!!!!
Please keep in contact , always good to hear about others experiences. I am now off to go snorkelling.
If you have time put some photos on your site so we can see what your area looks like. Thanks

Yes, Sheila, I am teaching in China. I have been teaching English at Web International English in Ningbo for the past 6 weeks. Jobs are quite plentyful for English teachers. If you have ESL credentials, you are in great demand though even just a university degree or enough life experience can land you a job.

Life in China has its moments. There are days when the culture shock is so heavy it's difficult to know why I came here. Others when the friendliness of the people is so grand that it's a pleasure to walk the streets.

I read a lot of books on China and the Chinese before I came here in 2007. I thought I knewwhat to expect. After being here for the last 14 months, I realize that I truly don't know these people and must start again at zero.

China and the Chinese are very very different than we are.
