West Coast Rain - Muskoka Snow - which would you choose for a Spring morning in March?

I live on the West Coast which we refer to as the Wet Coast this time of year, but, in the garden I see snowdrops, hyacinths, heather, and the promise of early daffodils and tulips.  In Muskoka, it might be that spring morning that I remember as a child - when you woke up it was still very cold, but the sun was shining so brightly, promising that spring thaw that started the Sap running in the Maple Trees on our farm... Ahhh, could I choose between these two mornings?

Cancer is Chaos

This cancer stuff is vicious.

I got the report on the lumpectomy.  They didn’t get it all, so now I have to go back for a mastectomy.  I asked the surgeon to schedule it soon so I could get it over with.  She asked if I want reconstruction.  I told her, no.

She insisted I make an appointment to talk to a plastic surgeon.  I called.  The man is on…

Today’s Breakthroughs in Nutrition Research

World-famous futurist Alvin Toffler said that “the illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.” Our evolving understanding of the impact of certain foods on our health underscores his statement. Here are four new discoveries:

Advertising that Abuses Seniors

Portraying a group of people in disparaging terms or unfairly is a form of abuse and is also against the Human Rights Act. Advertisers and Media outlets have to answer to the CRTC for making and airing this type of slander.

Feel free to add any Canadian ads you find that show Seniors in an unfavourable light. Don't forget to put in just what it is about the ad that riles you.

As an example these ads make an American Senior into the victim of violence by both Political…

Party Conversations from: The Good, the Bad and the Famous

Nothing like a party to see the forces of good and bad together in conversation. You probably have not seen most of the crowd all year long and now it's time to blend in and mingle like you just saw them yesterday.

The party I went to last week did not consist of the ingredients that make up the Oprah Book Club.  It was nothing but a who's who of the music industry. Chances are if you did not know a little something about it you were going to be sitting there twiddling your…

Long Life Warranty

I have known since I was 9 years old that I have a warranty. I will live to at least 96. I had been diagnosed with scoliosis and my family acted like this was a tragedy. The doctor wanted to fuse my spine and put a rod in my back. If I refused, he assured my family that I would grow up to be an ugly cripple.

During some quiet time, alone in my room, I demanded that the universe tell me what was really going…

Dance Like Men Can't Afford You! - Dance Moms

Once upon a time my late mother wanted me to become a ballerina. Although I was armed with a little natural talent I think it was a dream of hers to be able to dance as she was confined to a wheel chair day in and day out. Don't get me wrong; I loved to dance and still do but I…
