Once a week I try to take my mom for lunch. I love spending time with her because I truly believe she is the funniest, kindest person I know.
Last Thursday, on our regular day, I went and picked her up. My mom lives in an "assisted living" apartment. All meals are taken with the other residents, but each has their own place to live. She sits at the same table with the same people every day. Here is something that we talked about that became more relevant this weekend.
Mom:…

Just wanted to say that I am a lucky woman...and am grateful to be alive at this age following a double lung transplant last year...NOW, I can ride my horse, play piano, write songs, paint....hang out with my kids...travel, learn and the list never ends. It's too cool. : )

i am new to this site and cannot figure out much about it. Of course, not being on facebook, or ever having navigated chat rooms or blogs before could be my problem. I am a well educated 56 year old who has some life experience, so why is this giving me so much trouble? Is any one reading this? Where are you reading it? Help me before I disappear into computer neverland....LOL
At this rate I will never be able to read political blogs, dating blogs, fun things to do blogs, etc...

Our government bailout of Wallstreet, and AIG doesn't begin to make sense to me. Taking 700 billion dollars and throwing at it doesn't seem to be the correct way to do it even if they say there will be no golden parachutes for the current executives.
My solution is: Go after the current and past executives - go back 10 -12 years. Seize their assets, their homes, their cars, their money homes and cars that are in their wives and ex wives names. These people have committed TREASON.…

Having worked for most of my journalistic career in radio, I was always pretty hostile when it came to video. But recently I invested in a high-definition camcorder (and a good mic, all too often neglected) to record my interviews. It's wonderful!
I'm seriously thinking of altering my business novel. Instead of long, hand-written memoirs that take weeks and cost a bundle, how about a video documentary, mixed with music and photos? I must admit it's a lot more fun than I expected.…

Zoomers... WOW!!! What a party that was last night at AM740's Grand (and it was GRAND) Re-launch Gala. As a long time listener, my wife and I had the opportunity to attend through a close friend.
The new location although downtown was easy to access, the building itself was freshly renovated and pleasantly decorated with pictures and posters of past guests and performers. And the lounge area... eligant!
The live performers were amazing, the food devine and the wine and champagne…

Welcome Every Zoomer. I came, I saw, I left for a long while, I had comments and they disappeared. Can anyone tell me why? I really miss them...they were a part of me, and now they are gone, gone, gone.

As a "zesty" if not zealous "zippy" zoomer", may I extend a warm welcome to you to join me in my humble Palace of Pith & Vinegar!
For those with an insatiable need-to-know who the heck is this half-baked hussy, may I introduce myself,
H.R.H. The Quipping Queen,
Monarch of Mirth & Empress of Eccentricity.
On the other hand, boisterous busybodies may…

People born in 1954 like to use credit unions, and this is probably related to the fact that so many of us live in Quebec, where credit unions are especially popular.
We're especially likely to have a home equity line of credit, an auto loan, overdraft protection or an RRSP loan, so we're pretty conservative borrowers. However, about 4,000 of us still have a student loan, so some things never change.
We're slightly more likely than the rest of the adult population to have…

ETHNIC CLEANSING
By
James Bredin
Ethnic cleansing seems popular in some far-away places,
Historically they hate one another right in their faces,
The International Commission on Intervention is involved,
But nothing over there seems to be ever completely solved.
This pompous new UN world-order group feels as though they’ve been burned,
As far as their international…

I'm a writer, which means I have several projects on the go at once. One of them is writing biographies.
It's actually quite fun! For a modest fee, I sit down with my subject, conduct lots of interviews, do some research, gather photos, and write a biography. Of course it's a lot of work, so I can only write so many of these each year, but I always have fun with it. What a great way to meet interesting people!
And in return my clients get nicely-written biographies. It's a…

Scientists with nothing else to do
By
James Bredin
A bunch of scientists were sitting around with nothing to do,
To justify the expensive education of this few,
So they dug a huge hole somewhere near the French-Swiss border,
They said they were looking for dark matter which is on order.
Please believe them because they would never, or would they lie?
And dark…

Jarvis, Ontario is a small village that has everything you could possibly need. There are a couple of convenience stores, several restaurants, antique and specialty stores, a car dealership, a butcher shop, a doctor and a dentist just to name a few. Of course, there is a post office and a bank too.
We moved to Jarvis because we wanted my grandson to grow up in this quiet, easy going environment. He loves it here. He starts school next…

Once upon a time I believed that if enough people believed in peace, brotherhood of man and making the world a better place for future generations, we could do away with borders and the world, as John Lennon wanted to believe, could live as one.
I don't know if it's male testosterone (yes I know Margaret Thatcher isn't a male . . . well, are we certain) or men are simply hard wired to be terretorial but whatever the reason, it appears, even to my limited intelligence, that world…

The weather was hot, hot, hot. The sun shone every day. The lake looked delicious, peaches, pears and cherries ready for the picking in the surrounding orchards; the natives were very friendly, and every local newspaper advertised the many wine tours and art shows . . . sounds like heaven, right?
Might have been had I not been taking care of my girlfriend's B&B for 10 days. Not that I didn't try to get out and enjoy all that the sunny Okanagan has to offer . . . but what with…

Crazy Babe
Heard you in the garden where the rain feeds the rose
Held you in the harbour of the changing SOULS
when you are f-a-l-l-i-n-g
The sun re-f-u-s-e to s-h-i-n-e
Must of caught you a billion---- times
With the b-o-d-y of my mind
But I know you gonna make it girl
You gonna make it GOOD
the light in your eyes is HEALING
The message in your heart is understood
they said you were Cr-a-z-y BABY
But I knew that…
