BE AWARE!!! - NEVER KNOW WHEN SOMEONE'S WATCHING YOU!!!
Everyone loves a good ghost story, right? Especially on Halloween Eve. Well, my story begins at St. Francis High School, located on the shores of Lake Erie in Athol Springs (Hamburg), NY, where I spent almost 4 years as Janitorial Supervisor. With a crew of 8 cleaning up after 638 boys, the job is very stressful. During my first year there, I was told by several teachers & staffers that the school was haunted. Intrigued by…

REMINDER TO ALL BILLS FANS THAT 50 YEARS AGO TODAY WAS A BIG DAY!!!
October 28, 1959 - Was the day that the American Football League granted its 7th franchise to Buffalo with Ralph C. Wilson, Jr, as principal owner.
The 50th season of Bills football and all that the team has accomplished over the 5 decades prior has to be traced back to its day, cause without it, none of it happens in Buffalo.
Got my tickets for the November 29th game against the Dolphins.…

I find it totally amazing how many people will jump on the band wagon to protect sharks being killed somewhere in the world. Chase whaling fleets around the South Pole. Yes, these are all very worthy and needed acts.
I am even more amazed many Politicians will jump up and give tax breaks to save their rich friends or huge companies from going bankrupt. (As long as they voted for them)
I am even further amazed by how the media supports all these actions by the politicians.
What am…

Walking can add minutes to your life.
This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.
My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60..
Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where he is.
The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again .
I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.
Every time I hear the…

An Obituary printed in the London Times - Interesting and sadly rather true.
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't… Continue

A is for apple, and B is for boat,
That used to be right, but now it won't float!
Age before beauty is what we once said,
But let's be a bit more realistic instead.
A's for arthritis;
B's the bad back,
C's the chest pains,
perhaps car-d-iac?
D is for dental decay and decline,
E is for eyesight, can't read that top line!
F is for fissures and fluid retention,
G is for gas which I'd rather not mention.
H is high… Continue

My friend John and I (both transplant patients) are looking for a Canadian Celebrity or Celebrities who would be willing to stand up and help us save live of Human Beings
There are hundreds on this and other sites who want to save all sorts of animals and I fully agree and support many of them.
But while all this is going on ONE CANADIAN dies every three days while waiting for an Organ Transplant.
John and I are lucky we both have received transplant. John a few weeks ago and…

Cranky Old Man
When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in country New South Wales, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.
Later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.
One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has…

News Flash: Ottawa - The Bank of Canada said the country's recovery from recession is becoming more entrenched, but Canadians shouldn't expect the economy to return to normal for some time.
We keep hearing the same thing over and over again and again. The economy is getting better, but we won’t see positive results for a long time. Ottawa brings you up, just to let you down again.
I am still hearing of job losses and seeing foreclosures on homes. The economy doesn’t seem…

Found myself @ the Joe fresh presentation, part of Fashion Week for spring/summer 2010. Amid all the striving and pretension of a high fashion industry trying to root itself in Canada's unglamorous soil, it was refreshing to see clothes characterized by optimism and fun. Joe Mimran is to be congratulated for creating a line of People's fashion @ price points that are hard to believe. Many pieces were in the 20/30/40 dollar range, and nothing, except a sheer blazer for men that caught my eye,…

Childhood is a unique and magical time where all children should have the chance to exercise their imagination and creativity. For some families, things like piano and art lessons are simply beyond their financial means. The Cabbagetown Community Arts Centre (CCAC) believes that every child deserves the chance to pursue the artist inside. For almost 30 years the CCAC has provided disadvantaged and at-risk children from across the city with professional music and art lessons.

I've been meaning to complete some of the writing I started in Italy, but a mild cold and some painful dental surgery, when combined with increasing administrative duties as we approach our annual ZoomerShow, has served to slow me down. But I'm feeling sufficiently healthy and motivated to get cracking.
Late last month, Holly and I attended the 50 & Piu (50+) Olympiad in near the town of Ginosa in Puglia, Italty. Puglia is the…

3rd of 3 parts
My extended absence from the Zoomer blogosphere can be explained. Holly and I have been away on the most wonderful Italian vacation for the past two weeks that was part work and part play. I hope to talk about it in my next couple of entries. Italy is a fascinating country with so many diverse and historic areas, and Italians (at least the ones we met) were generally warm and friendly. I’ll have much more to say, including plans for another trip that some of you may be…

Well, Buffalo Bills pulled one off on Sunday with a big UGLY win against the NY Jets. This is the only team in the NFL I extremely hate. This goes back to the days of #99, Mark Gastenau. The players & fans are dirty. Whoever heard of starting fires in the bleachers during a football, well that's what Jets fans do, or at least used to. Both defenses played well, but offense (both) stunk. Just before the half, changed stations, cause the game was getting boring, just like the last 2 weeks.…
