For the record, the traditional crossing of hands should not be done until the fourth verse!
Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne
We twa hae run aboot the braes
And pou’d the gowans… Continue

While walking down Bourbon street in New Orleans we noticed a crowd gathered around a guy who was entertaining the folks with a dancing puppet of sorts. Much to our amazement he had this cardboard clown dancing. A simple cardboard cut-out with rubber bands for legs with what looked like feet? You could not see the thin thread used to hold up the little character. I was fascinated by the little guy and bought one for five bucks. My brother's family… Continue

It's the end of the year, and that time of high spirits, and "high spirits" is upon us, so I decided to look at the drinking habits of those of us Canadians born in 1954.
First of all, we drink beer, and powerful stuff, too. We are much less likely than other adults to say we haven't had a beer in the past week, and we're more likely than others to say we've had three of them. Mind you, we're also much more likely than others to say we've had 25 or more beers in the past week. We… Continue

Happy new year to everyone - and best wishes for a healthy and successful 2009!
1. More and more companies will "get it" as far as Zoomers are concerned.
2. Zoomers will save a lot of companies that need more sales.
3. The Internet will continue to foster a revolution in health care, turning "patients" into "consumers."

My heart is heavy with sadness for the canadian soldiers who gave their lives. None should perish far from home for reasons not understood.

Twas the night before Xmas and the fat dude was illin’
the reindeer were missing and none knew the villain
so they formed a committee completely of elves
and after creating awards for themselves,
they all sat on down to deliberate
but all that they did was endless debate.
Then a postman came through to get the mail out,
quipped, “What you ought to do is apply for a bail out.”
So the elves formed yet another committee
to decide… Continue

You are a distracting burst of air; a harmony, thick and sweet, a great rush of rhythm, filling empty spaces.
You are the flavour of vanilla; the feel of feathers blown by the wind; the fragrance of lonely sheets.
You are lips whispering a novena of forgotten dreams piercing the still night.
You are broken vows and verses spilling over aching bodies and broken hearts.
You are without a beginning or end; a circle of endless grieving.
You are… Continue

December 8: 6:00 PM. It started to snow.
The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window
watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I just love the snow!
December 9: We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World?… Continue

I don't know who wrote this, but....I really like it:
--I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful
life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter
belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself,
and less critical of myself. I've become my own
friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra
cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly
cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante
garde on my patio. I am… Continue

If you're a fan of Bing Crosby's crooning, consider joining the Zoomers group, Bing Crosby Appreciation. Bob has set up the group and we're looking for others who share an enjoyment of der Bingle's music.
