TWITTER TWITTER EVERYWHERE AND NOT A DROP TO DRINK - WHAT?

It's either really late or I'm up too early.

I decided after tossing and turning the the few minutes in bed, to jump back online, to check my newest Twitter account where I post my hopes and dreams.

Mostly, I post "my nuts itch!" and some guy who says he's a movie director(he has been verified by Twitter!) out in Cali retweets that my nuts itch.

My parents would be so proud if I told them, "Some director who directed Titanic and Avatar…

Technology- Thoughts From the Spandex Queen

This week Zoomers challenged us to write about a piece of technology you couldn't live without. One might not think what I am about to discuss should be considered, but essentially Dupont's fabric technology for Lycra Spandex created a revolution in women's clothing.

DuPont scientist Joseph C. Shivers invented Spandex's first fibre in 1959 and its first use was in ladies' foundation…

Eat Pray Loving Tech Support in India

Last night at the stroke of midnight I lost my internet. Instead of clenching my fists and gritting my teeth I threw my hands up in the air and shut down my computer. I figured come morning the internet would be fine and life would carry on. Well, the sun rose without the internet and after rebooting a…

Losing Your Internet- I am not The Happiest Baby on the Block Jack!

*Warning!  Graphic text!

Yesterday my internet was off for over 12 hours. When it crashed I waited for 30 minutes and then banged on the door of our in house IP provider. Every time I tell someone the internet is off I get the same immediate question,

"Are you sure?"…

Thankful Thanksgiving Thoughts of Pre-Facebook Friends

When the internet crashes for whatever reason it makes me seriously wonder what we did before Facebook and email. How did we honestly exist? Instead of calling someone now; I email them and never think twice about not remembering a phone number, as everything is just one click away. This weekend I did not have the luxury of doing things like that and I had to find my address book at one point. It is nothing but a beat up old book that holds years…

Cheap Phone Sex iPhone App - Call Me Maybe!

Canadian Carly Rae Jepsen wasn't kidding when she sang the lyrics to her hit song “Call Me Maybe”. Friday I read an article that made my ovaries shrivel up and possibly yours will too. You'll never have to leave the house again as long distance romance has taken on a new twist with the company LovePalz who has created a two-way internet pleasure machine…

Hanging Out – is There any There There?

Political party Convention speakers tell us what America needs and they promise to provide. I have my own ideas.

I believe America needs Gemutlichkeit, and politicians cannot provide it. We need it, but only We The People are empowered to provide it.

Gemutlichkeit means warmth and good fellowship. There is no equivalent…

Are You Addicted to your Cell Phone?

My name is Linda and I turned 61 years old in July. I do not own a fancy cell phone, nor do I have caller ID. I realize I am a rare breed but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

My very first phone was a pink rubber one at the age of 3. I called many imaginary friends and had long conversations with them. I never got any calls, I could bring it over to my sandbox and not worry about having to replace it from damage.

The pink…

TICKETS FROM THE HELL DESK: TELL JESUS TO TAKE DICK OUT OF DRIVE

I use to work in an IT department for a casino in the middle of a corn field here in Southern Indiana.

A real life casino, like they show on TV from Las Vegas, except it was in Indiana.

The job was good, at times, and well, hair pulling - make Jason smash other times.

Our helpdesk was based outside the USA, in a country I will call Hepastanakanastan, where the people are taught to say, "How about them Yankees! Go Joe! You like apple pie? I…

Will Japanese Virtual Performers Hurt the Music Industry?

I love the Japanese and all their innovations, but are their virtual music stars too much for the music industry? Their first virtual pop star was Hatsune Miku, who is actually a hologram performs to screaming fans across the country in sold-out arenas. Even in the United States her concert in San Francisco was sold out last year and I for one wish I had been there.…

The Seven Deadly Sins - The Electronic & Internet Edition

Last week the police had to be called to interrupt a fight between two young men over an available iPad2 in Beijing China. Of course the Apple staff could not be reached for comment as they were too busy taking pictures of the incident on their iPhones. Malachi Urbini, an Art Institute of Pittsburgh student, who was killed Sunday after he tried to trade his IPad and his IPod for heroin. What has this world come to? To heck with the gluttony and wrath from the Seven Deadly Sins; we now have…

Customer-friendly-Not!

Speaking with a senior leader of a wireless company today, I asked, “Why are you in a commodity industry that is one of the most reviled business sectors?” Confusing bills, bill shock, incomprehensible and restrictive contracts and pricing systems, termination fees, brutal competition that ignores customer needs, and all this adding up to absurdly huge profits, nickel-and-dimed from the pockets of customers one at a time. Ask a cross section of people to name the industry that makes them madder… Continue

Inspiring the Leader to Inspire

In my most recent book, ONE: The Art and Practice of Conscious Leadership, I wrote about how South Korean activist lawyer and presidential candidate Roh Moo Hyun leveraged technology to become elected - he showed us how technology helps to make us one. This week we received the sad news that Roh had committed suicide.

In his bid to become President of South Korea Roh leveraged the power of the Internet even before Barak Obama. Self-educated, Roh came from a poor family and in earlier… Continue
