Behold the New Day That Allows the Rabbit Hole to Disappear

                                                               Five AM

She looked through the window that was still covered with morning dew. The pink sky had not quite risen and was still peeking at her below the trees. The leaves hung on the old maple trees, still weighted down from the night rain.

Was all this the promise of a new day?

Yes, she…

Why my book "The Christmas Sock" was never published

"Celeste the sock was getting a good soak. Immersed in laundry soap and hot water, she swished around, glad to have a good wash. Somehow she had been worn two days in a row and she was becoming ‘toned’. She belonged to a book seller who preferred the word ‘toned’ to ‘yellow'."

Four years ago I wrote a children's story called "The Christmas Sock". In my neurotic mind I…

Twas the Night Before Christmas- The Bad Neighbour Jazz Edition

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the lofts,

Not a creature was stirring, except a guy next door called Jack Foss.

The earplugs were hung by our bed with great care,

In hopes that…

How to Gift Wrap a Cat! Not Approved by Hallmark!

Yesterday my friend Raya questioned in her blog how one might wrap a rescue cat for her daughter’s Christmas present. Of course I have watched every Hallmark movie known to man and have personally seen how they have achieved it in their films. Since Hallmark is the "king of well wishes" and gift wrapping I figured they would have a seasonal webpage devoted to wrapping a cat.

No matter what I ‘Googled’ there was no such site available.  There were many cute videos from YouTube…

Five years later - Still Searching for Christmas in the Rain

When I wrote this in 2006 I wondered if things might change through the years. I honestly thought that people might begin to respect their fellow man come Holiday time and not berate each other. Five years later to the exact day nothing has changed including the weather, but the pictures I took are…

Are we Just a Twitter Away from Dying like Bon Jovi?

On Monday rocker Jon Bon Jovi was pronounced dead on Twitter. A fake press release on Twitter had him dead and buried even though some think he can only be killed by silver bullets. No official statement has been issued by his management or his current employer Advil.…

Steampunk Cabinet Photo Blog- The Great Dickens Victorian Christmas Fair

This photo blog was done to simulate antique Victorian "Cabinet Photos" from the late 1800's. Of course they did not have colour in those days,  but as the images aged photos from this period can be identified by a metallic…

Your Top 10 Shoplifted "Christmas Stocking Stuffers"

I once had a friend that was a culinary genius and he used to make an omelet that even Martha Stewart would have salivated over. Was it the amount of whisking or the type of eggs that made it so delicious?  Finally after much coaxing he told me the…

Did Diefenbaker's "Diefenbunker" Produce an Illegitimate Child?

John George Dryden 42, from Toronto is searching for DNA to confirm the identity of his father. Normally this would be a questionable feat but in this particular case it is even more difficult. Dryden believes his mother Mary Lou had an affair in the late 60’s with the former Prime Minister of…

The Taming of the Crab and other Barely Legal Stories about Cooks Gone Bad

CrabAnimated1 Today I am finally coming out of the shellfish closet. Last week crab was on special and I decided to try it out. I have never met a crab I did not like, but in reality I have never met a crab nor a lobster at all. They have always stayed on one side of the supermarket and I have stayed on mine. I will also not eat shrimp because I  swear I can see their little black eyes looking at me. I have been told there are no eyes, but give me a break! I see them like I see…

Holiday Shopping Necessities and the 12 Months of Godiva

The dictionary states that the word shopping is an intransitive verb that means: "to examine goods or services with intent to buy”.  I seldom shop much anymore but the chance of going holiday shopping in my dictionary means:  “mass examining of lots of goods with some intent to buy”.

Last Saturday within 3 minutes of Target’s 8 am opening I was manned with a cart, ready to journey down the many aisles beckoning me like cheap flashing motel signs. I…

How You Too Can Easily Lose Weight on Cocaine

Yesterday while surfing the internet I came across an article about vintage weight loss programs from years gone by. I remember every one of these ads and I swear each diet added on 5-8 pounds at least. For years I was baffled as to why I never lost weight on these programs until I read that the late Anna Nicole had lost a lot of weight on Trimspa.

What was her secret for losing it so fast?

Why did she say she was never hungry?

Did it really work?

After…
