Nobody will believe me anyways, so I might as well tell my version of the story...
...but there I was, standing on the corner of Eastern and Arizona, waiting for a bus when the world just decided to end.
Just like that, no news report, no fanfare, it just went poof.
Everyone but me and my best friend, who happens to be imaginary, were gone.
There was still a bird who flew backwards and a cat who barked but who would believe that if I hadn't told you!
I mean, my friend Mike didn't even believe it and he's imaginary, they believe anything you tell them!
So anyways, we start walking down the street looking for signs of life but didn't find a soul.
"What are we going to do?" Mike said, afraid but trying not to show it.
"I don't know!! Rob a bank?"
"Why? Stuff is free with nobody here to stop us!"
Good point, I thought, but just shook my head and kept walking.
The sky was a pretty shade of purple, like the sky has always been.
Somewhere, off in the distance, a factory, on auto pilot, blew its whistle. Nobody showed up for work that day.
The end of the world gave everyone the forever off.
A robot moved through the factory, alone, sad, scared it tried to commit suicide but failed miserably!
Somewhere else, the TV station computer thought it might be nice to play lullabies to a non-existing crowd of sleepy folks.
It then went into a news cast of dead air.
It was a good day for the end of the world.
Sunny, warm, with a slight chance of rain later on in the day.
A beautiful day indeed.
