Optomism

Is There Ever Such A Thing As Too Much Optomism? . An old song says ” Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative” The advice in this song is simple…focus on the positive elements of your life. Don’t dwell on negative things that have happened. Is that the key to your future happiness? There are two keys factors of which point to if you should or should not think positively about negative experiences from the past. Controability and the severity of the negative event. For example; you cannot control a car accident, serious illness or the loss of a loved one. But if you have a friend who is mean to you, you can choose not to spend time with them, and if your job is not working out, you can always change jobs. These are controllable. The second, such as having a flat tire on your car or miscommunication with your partner are negative, but not tragic. There is good reason to think that a positive attitude toward uncontrollable events of the past is a good thing. Research shows that people who thought positively about negative events showed a decrease in symptoms of depression over time.

Life has lots of little stresses, for those situations, put on your rose-coloured glases and smile your way through them

Accentuate the positive, but "watch out for that tree", I say. . .

Watch out for that tree!
