Paulina Gretzky was recently sent to the penalty box by her father legendary Wayne Gretzky for the 24,000 flip-shot photos she sent down Twitters centre ice. Gretzky’s Twitter page consisted of more than a hat trick of racy photos depicting her controversial lifestyle funded by Mum and Dad. I could not blame her parents at first after seeing her many pictures consisting of: body checks, back hand shots, butt-ending and not much on the face-off circle. All these photos were viewed by her 24,000 followers which is way more fans than her father played for at some All-Star games.
Was Puck Daddy annoyed that his 22 year old daughter had way more fans than he does at present - and did he decide to throw her a backhand shot? After reading this news item I was suddenly happy I had boys. My oldest son the goalie has made many pictures public in his goalie equipment online. But not once has he dropped pass or put any images on that his mother might have to deke him down the defense line for. He is as solid as a goal cage and would never embarrass his family of conservative linesmen.
Paulina’s pictures were run of the mill screen shot images but one stood out that I loved a lot and figured Dad should not have had to scramble to slap shot this picture. It was from a site called Facedown. It had nothing to do with hockey but simply photos of people posing in a freezing the puck face down position. There, in one shot, was dearest Daddy’s daughter high sticking it facedown. I actually thought it was a real hook check artistic position and had no idea why Wayne would find this photo worthy of penalty shots.
So alas, Paulina’s last Tweet was “Having a nice sit down dinner with my dad about social media.” That was followed with, “Taking a break from Twitter for a bit. Happy Holidays!!! xoxo.”
Did Dad finally make his power play and pull the Twitter goalie from the rink? I guess we will never know what save or sweep-check Wayne made in the home zone but one thing is as sure as shots on goal. Everyone makes mistakes in stickhandling growing up and it should never be sudden death overtime. Let her have her Twitter back as she is somehow left holding the puck. Who knows, all this publicity might give her an Exhibition Game as she seems like quite the Enforcer! I am sure at one point in Wayne and Janet’s life they had some bad wrist shots and rode the Zamboni down- the- fly. Honestly? The pictures below look like they too knew how to "bust a move".
