After teaching overseas for twenty- five years, my husband John and I retired and moved to the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. Our "Big Idea" was to make loads of new friends during the first few months. After all, aren't Canadians renowned for being the "friendliest" people?
I had no idea what I had grown into, or what I was, until Oprah did a one hour show on the subject of Freeganism. I saw a lot of people like myself employing anti-consumerist lifestyles as a way of life. We are called Freegans and use a stew of various ideas to create things, as we feel our society wastes too much money.
How much time do we spend waiting for the Big Idea? You know what I'm talking about. The Big Idea, the Silver Bullet, that one Big Thing, your Prince Charming of an Idea that will sweep you off your feet and assure you'll live happily ever after.
