Writer Wednesday Round-Up #61: "Resolutions"

Writer Wednesday is a weekly open call on a particular theme or subject that our community of bloggers are welcomed to participate in.

If you're a blogger that's interested in getting a handle on your craft (or even connecting with an audience!) then this is definitely the challenge for you.

How Does It Work?

Every Friday, we issue the theme or subject via a blog post that will be featured in our Friday newsletter.

To participate, simply post a blog on that theme, but tag that post with "writer wednesday" (within quotes, all lowercase) before the following Wednesday at 12PM EST.

When Writer Wednesday hits, we then do the following:
  • Round-up all the participating entries in a entry such as this.
  • Feature all the participating entries in our Friday newsletter that goes directly to our over 12,000 members.
  • Feature all the participating entries via our
Twitter with the popular #writerwednesday hashtag.
  • Select our personal favourite that will be featured to the over 13,000 members in our
Zoomers on Facebook community.

In the latest edition of this feature, we were inspired by the start of a new year.

Here are the entries that took us up on our
 "Resolutions" writing challenge:

New Year's Resolutions are usually impossible to keep. But that doesn't stop my family from making them. This year's New Year's Resolution for my sons, Matt and Andrew, and myself is "to be patient with John."  We were confident until...

January 2nd...

Maybe, if I start doing those things you're not suppose to do, good stuff will begin to happen, like I will find a million dollars in crisp 100 dollar bills, just lying on the rail road tracks, right before the train comes through and sends me into the Great Beyond, or Detroit, whichever sick and twisted Fate God has in store for me next.

Steve S's
Resolutions For An Unrepentant Geek:

(3) Do something unusual and fun at least weekly.

I admit this sounds like a pledge to be spontaneous on schedule, but I think I really need to make this commitment to myself and my family. I have fallen into some mental ruts over the last few months. I need to make sure that doesn't happen again. Having fun is the best way for me.

The squirrel on that branch made a resolution to stay warm and find food this winter. You have all that - share extra peanuts!

Are we not all a little nutty?

Thanks to Shelley, Jason, Steve and Linda for all their hard work! Please support our writers' original works by visiting their individual blogs as well as leaving comments.

Writer Wednesday will take a short break. We'll be back with more challenges in January!
