Writer Wednesday is a new Zoomers.ca feature where we issue a weekly open call on a particular theme or subject that our community of bloggers are welcomed to participate in.
If you're a blogger that's interested in getting a handle on your craft (or even connecting with an audience!) then this is definitely the challenge for you.
How Does It Work?
Every Friday, we issue the theme or subject via a blog post that will be featured in our Friday newsletter.
To participate, simply post a blog on that theme, but tag that post with "writer wednesday" (within quotes, all lowercase) before the following Wednesday at 12PM EST.
When Writer Wednesday hits, we then do the following:
In the latest edition of this feature, we put a call out for pieces that explored "Cha-Cha-Cha-Changes."
Here are the entries that took us up on our "Cha-Cha-Cha-Changes" writing challenge:
As I watched the years pass the chain stores started moving in and slowly replaced the Mom and Pop stores. I saw one after one disappear and so did the personal service. It was soon replaced by people working minimum wage and some with attitudes not conducive to dealing with prospective buyers. Retail evolution continued with shopping centres and the big box stores arrived on the scene and cutting costs were put over personal service.
Changes were happening. The game of Survivor had started. The bidding was already closed and the first few tricks had been taken. I wasn't even at the table. I didn't even know there was a game.
Now, my own grandfather, the “Rascal of the New Family”, as titled by my great-grandfather, for whatever reason, lost to the family by lips of silence and the fogs of time, decided to run off from his own family and England and moved to the States, The United States of America, what we now call, “USA”.
Stay tuned this Friday for the next theme!
